Come See Hawaii and the Scenic House of the Sun

By: Todd Martin

You should see Hawaii and its House of Sun.
.
For your next vacation, wouldn't the sunshine in Maui feel great? This is one of Hawaii's island formations - in fact, separated into a pair of islands - East and West maui. The biggest feature in East Maui is Haleakala, also known as the House of the Sun, an impressive 10,000 foot wide volcano. The volcano remains an ominous physical structure on the island since it isn't dead, it is only inactive. 1790 was the year of the last eruption. As you peer from atop the volcano's peak and observe the moon-like landscape of Haleakala Crater you will be inspired by this vision.
Visiting East Maui will show you the lush tropical mass of plants that grow here and are rivaled by the breathtaking waterfalls. The town of Hana is on the tip of the island and is one of the favorites of those who feel a little like a daredevil. Curving around the North Shore on Hana Highway you will observe the shoreline which is completely impassable.
The only way to see the beauty of the North Shore is to take a helicopter ride. Beyond imagination, what you can see while flying above the north shore are sea cliffs, lonely beaches and splendid waterfalls. Taking a helicopter ride will be one of the highlights of your vacation.
Maui’s oldest volcano is the West Maui mountains. These mountains are what remains of a volcano that once was huge. Rainfall has slowly eroded the volcanic mountains and created numerous valleys and ridges surrounding the island's western half. Nicknamed The Valley Isle because of these mountains, West Maui is the recipient of around 500 inches of rain a year. The waterfalls are the end result of this much rain. It is one of the most beautiful places that you will ever experience that has not been changed.
When you go to Maui you should also visit Molokai, since there are only nine miles separating them. The change in the culture is very evident from the time you step foot in Molokai. One of Hawaii's best kept secrets, this area is relaxed and laid back, its atmosphere and beauty drawing you right into its peacefulness. Yet another location not to be missed during your helicopter trip is the secluded coast of the northeast.
The sea cliffs which are touted as the tallest in the world go thousands of feet in the air with the beaches resting below. That region is inaccessible to human beings. The best way to view it is in a helicopter. This area has never been seen by most Molokai residents. A visual spectacle, you certainly cannot miss this area of Hawaii. If you want a genuine Hawaiian experience, take the time to visit East Maui, West Maui, Hana and Molokai.
